Standard # 8 Instructional Settings

INTASC Standard # 8: The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content area and their connections, and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways.

INTASC Standard Interpretation: Family and Consumer Science is a field that offers learning experiences for all types of learning preferences. I will seek to explore what settings my students learn best in and will make sure my lessons are structured so that learning happens on a level that supports each learner. Learning also takes place outside the classroom, and I will seek to give students meaningful assignments that will help them see the bigger picture of how the content is applicable outside the classroom.

INTASC Standard Reflection: This lesson plan offers a variety of choices for the student to use as both formative assessment as well as the summative assessment. I believe in learner driven assessment; the more involvement a student has in their own learning, the greater the chance they will discover how it is applicable in their own life.
