Standard # 9 Professional Learning and Ethical Practice

INTASC Standard # 9: The teacher engages in ongoing professional learning and uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (learners, families, other professionals, and the community), and adapts practice to meet the needs of each learner.

INTASC Standard Interpretation: It is my responsibility to seek out both colleagues and conferences that focus on best practices in the field of education. I am actively involved in national and state organizations that support both family relations and specifically Family and Consumer Science. I also plan to continue my education through taking professional development courses as often as the opportunity presents itself. By being a life-long learner I can both set an example for my students and enable myself to be the best educator I can be for my students.

INTASC Standard Reflection: I have attached certificates from the most recent conferences I have attended. I have found that the conferences are not only a time to gain a great deal of information on current research but also an opportunity to share ideas with colleagues in the fields I am most passionate about. I also enjoy volunteering at events, this gives me an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of event planning and leadership. These are objectives that I hope to pass on to my students it is my hope to model life – long learning for the generations to follow.
